For over a decade, Delta Live has proudly delivered exceptional audio services at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, bringing flawless sound to one of the UK’s most prestigious outdoor events. We were tasked once again with providing a comprehensive sound reinforcement and communications system for the Castle Arena, built on our years of trusted partnership and technical excellence.
As part of the brief from HPower Group we were instructed to deliver, install, operate, and de-rig a reliable, high-quality audio system for the main Castle Arena — a responsibility Delta has fulfilled since 2012, with key team members personally involved since 2017.
The installation included a robust selection of L-Acoustics KIVA II, A10, KS28, X12 and X8 loudspeakers, driven by LA12X amps and fed via AVB with analogue fallback infrastructure in place. Control was achieved with the DiGiCo SD10, managing the mix with precision. For RF, Shure’s Axient Digital microphones and Sennheiser 2000 series IEMs ensured clean, dependable transmission, while the Riedel Bolero and Clear-Com HelixNet kept all departments seamlessly connected.
Spring weather in the UK is extremely unpredictable, so we had to ensure staff safety and protecting the equipment was a top priority. The team were prepared for any possible eventuality including rain and wind, particularly during rig/de-rig when crews were working at height. There was also the delicate matter of audio levels: with thousands of horses — and royalty — in attendance, sensitivity to sudden noise was critical to keep everyone (human and animal alike) calm and composed.
Thanks to continuity in keeping the same crew year-on-year, resulting in deep event familiarity, and a seasoned relationship with the show organisers HPower Group, this year’s setup was efficient and ran as smoothly as the horses in the arena.
